Evelyn’s Story was created by Oxfam, with a dedicated team of filmmakers, creative, producers and composers, led by Director Dave Denneen.

Alt.vfx

Alt.vfx is a creative content studio with expertise in high-end visual effects, animation and virtual reality.

Their VR division – Alt.R&D – functions as a “VR facilitation” studio, the kind of studio that can help produce creative ideas for any project, as well as shoot content via their in-house team of award-winning talent. On top of that, they can handle all aspects of the post production process for VR or 360, including additional VFX, editing, grading and finishing.

Alt’s custom-built VR camera rig

Alt’s VR team handcrafted a state of the art, custom-built VR rig to shoot full stereo virtual reality content and films. It offers live view, ambiosonic audio capture, stereo 360 at 4K, synchronised cameras with micro 4/3’rds sensors allowing for excellent low light performance, and all packed up in a custom designed lightweight casing for ease of use on location.

On the Evelyn’s Story shoot in Kenya, the camera was manned by their award-winning Director of Photography, Sean Ryan, and The Don designer and VR Technical Director, Raymond Leung.

Alt’s custom-designed VR editing suite

Alt now has a full VR post production system installed in their Sydney studio, with live grading and editing facilities alongside experienced editors and colourists. The new system allows for live grading and colour correction in a 360 space, and can work with any type of content, either 360 video or full CG environments, giving any potential project team the opportunity to view and manipulate content in real time.

The industry has changed radically since Filmgraphics started, but the fact that they are still going strong after 40 years attests that they have adapted to the new order but still maintain high production values no matter what the budget is.

Filmgraphics has become a brand synonymous with excellence and creativity and has won nearly every award, including an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film called “Leisure”. The production team, led by EP Anna Fawcett, ensures that every project gets the backup of years of experience and the full attention of the company.

Oxfam

The production of Evelyn’s Story was led by Victoria Sichler, Head of Content Strategy and Brand at Oxfam Australia and Executive Producer on the film. Her team included Maureen Bathgate and Mika Tran who both worked as producers on the film, discovered the true story featured in the film and scouted locations. Mika Tran also led the crew to Kenya and was the First Assistant Director. Thanks to Adam Walsh, Head of Supporter Development who provided advice and support during the making of the film.
